Umbrella

An umbrella company is a fully compliant payment intermediary which acts as an employer to contractors who work on various temporary assignments. This provides contractors with a continuous period of employment whilst having the flexibility to work on many assignments with different clients. The umbrella company will make PAYE tax and National Insurance deductions ensuring your candidate’s income tax affairs are taken care of.

The Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) refers to a tax regime set out by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) to cater for self-employed contract workers in the construction industry. As a result of the amendment made to section 44 of the Income Tax (Earnings & Pensions) Act (often labelled the agency legislation) there are now stricter rules surrounding the employment status of contractors, with the burden of proof over a lack of supervision, direction or control now resting with the agency.

You have two options: you can complete the ‘Sign up in seconds form’ on our website and a customer service representative will be in contact with you to confirm your details. Alternatively, you can call us on 0203 019 4990 to speak to one of our customer service team; they will be able to get you registered in no time. Before we can make payment to you, we will require your right to work documents as well as your signed contract. Finally, once we have this, you’re fully registered and ready to be paid.

Community Stories

Kwabena Amaning started Third Nexus and joined TEAM under restrictive covenant on his 1st Monday of trading. On Tuesday he saw a job on TEAM Xchange he thought he could fill with a candidate (not being able to target any of his previous clients for 6 months). On Wednesday he submitted the candidate to the job owning TEAM member. The candidate got an online interview Thursday  and an offer Friday which he accepted. On Monday Kwabena invoiced £3750. In his 1st 4 months in TEAM he filled 5 more roles for other TEAM members and invoiced a total of £25,000.


Sarah Bishop met Kerry Greenland ( 2 Solo recruiters) at our TEAM conference in 2018 and they promised to work together in the future. In April 2020 when the world had stopped working Sarah won a new contract with a new business managing Covid testing. She contacted Kerry and said "Help! I need to fill over 100 new jobs!" Over the next 12 months Kerry found 140 successful candidates and they both shared £500k fees from the very satisfied client.

DATA COMPLIANCE AND TEAM CULTURE

The success of the TEAM community is built on trust and collaboration. Every member signs acceptance of our Code of Conduct and adopts our guidelines for job sharing on TEAM Xchange. Any problems with disagreements or misunderstandings can be resolved through TEAM HQ mediation. In the last 3 years we have only had 2 of these issues to resolve satisfactorily.
